Django In Eclipse

Install PyDev and PyDev Extensions

Help > Install New Software…

Set add repository -

N.B. Uncheck the 'Contact all update sites during install to find required software'

Setup PyDev On Eclipse:

  • Window > Preferences > PyDev > Interpreter – Python
  • Click on New and browse to /usr/bin/python and click OK.
  • Default selection looks fine, click OK.
  • Need to add the python django directory manually. Click on New Folder, enter location - /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/ (may different from others, just see below. Caution: path is /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/ Not /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django). Click OK.
  • PyDev then load the python libraries. Ready to go!
